A Creative Journey to Alberta

A Creative Journey to Alberta

My meeting with artisan and photographer Kristen Haines

This summer I set off on a solo trip to Alberta to finally meet Kristen Haines of Luna Goods in person- a photographer and artisan whose work I’ve admired for years.

Living on a century-old homestead with her husband and three children, Kristen combines artistry, craft, and everyday life in a way that feels completely grounded and authentic. Her photography- calm, thoughtful, and full of intention -had always resonated with me, and I knew she was the right person to capture my new collection, SJAEL.

The trip was everything I hoped for and more.

I met her warm, welcoming family, learned about life on the homestead, and experienced Alberta’s incredible landscapes - from wide-open fields to the towering mountains of Banff.

We spent a full day shooting the collection, exploring the land, and even went horseback riding. The natural surroundings and raw beauty of the region made the collection’s theme - protection, strength, and connection—come alive in a tangible way.

SJAEL, meaning “soul” in Danish, is deeply personal for me.

Each piece represents armor, a shield, something intimate that travels with the wearer. Seeing these ideas come to life through Kristen’s lens was magical. Her eye for quiet moments and authentic storytelling translated the collection into images that feel both protective and delicate, strong yet intimate.

I left Alberta feeling inspired, grateful, and full of new ideas.

Meeting Kristen and her family reminded me of how creativity can bring people together in unexpected ways.

I can’t wait to share more of the SJAEL collection and the images we created together.
